(for Windows 95 / 98 / ME / NT 4.0)
Snitch can sometimes turn back the asterisks in password fields to plaintext passwords.
Download the exe file and run it. Press the left mouse button in the "start field", keep it down and move the mouse pointer to a window with a password field with asterisks. The password will now be shown in plaintext if all goes well.
Q: It doesn't work, why?
A: Some programs are coded so it doesn't work, and it doesn't work at all in Windows 2000/XP. But perhaps you haven't followed the instructions completely, for example it is important that you keep the mouse button pressed as you move it to the window with the password field.
Q: When will snitch be able to show the plaintext passwords in the User Manager in Windows NT?
A: It will never be able to, because the User Manager doesn't even know the plaintext passwords itself.
Q: Help! I can't get the asterisks back!
A: Restart the program, that will probably get them back. If that doesn't help, rebooting your computer will help for sure.
Q: Help! Snitch doesn't work on Hotmail, Yahoo mail or similar!
A: If the program you run Snitch against doesn't know the password there is no way for Snitch to help you. Sorry.
Q: Does it work on AOL?
A: I don't have a clue. I've never had anything at all to do with AOL so I know nothing about AOL at all.
Q: Which Windows versions doesn't Snitch work on?
A: It doesn't work on Windows 2000 and XP.
Q: I have a question that is not covered here. Where can I get help?
A: Send me
your question. I can't promise that I will have time to answer, but I'll do my best.
